Lupus Awareness Month 

Lupus Awareness Month takes place during October in the UK every year. It is an important opportunity to raise awareness of the disease amongst the public and medical profession as well as improving the understanding of the impact that lupus can have.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month 

Around 5,000 people will be diagnosed with breast cancer this October. More people than ever are surviving, but the reality is that someone is diagnosed every 10 minutes. This life-threatening disease will abruptly become part of their story and that of their friends and families.

Black History Month 

This month provides an opportunity to appreciate the profound contributions of Black people to Britain and the World

National Cholesterol Month 

National Cholesterol Month is an entire month devoted to raising awareness of the dangers of high cholesterol and raising funds to help us continue to provide our vital life-saving work.

Dyslexia Awareness Week 

This year Dyslexia Awareness Week runs from Monday 2nd October to Sunday 8th October 2017 and our theme is Positive about Dyslexia.

National Work-Life Week 

National Work Life Week is an opportunity for both employers and employees to focus on well-being at work and work-life balance. Employers can use the week to provide activities for staff, and to showcase their flexible working policies and practices.

World Space Week 

World Space Week has grown into the largest public space event on Earth. More than 2,700 events in 86 countries celebrated the benefits of space and excitement about space exploration in 2016. With the new Theme “Exploring New Worlds In Space” it aims to inspire even more events around the world in October 2017.

World Smile Day 

The goal is to “make as many people as possible aware of World Smile Day by using the web, social media, and your help to encourage smiles and acts of kindness around the world.”

National Braille Week

National Braille Week aims to raise awareness of the importance of Braille and other alternative formats that open up the written world to people with visual impairments.

Baby Loss Awareness Week 

Baby Loss Awareness Week also provides a chance to raise awareness about the issues surrounding pregnancy and baby loss in the UK. This year we are calling for improved bereavement support for families affected by baby and pregnancy loss.

World Mental Health Day 

The day provides an opportunity “for all stakeholders working on mental health issues to talk about their work, and what more needs to be done to make mental health care a reality for people worldwide”. This year’s theme is mental health in the workplace.

World Sight Day 

This year, let us ensure that we pay attention to eye care issues that impact lives everywhere, both developed and developing economies. What’s the first thing you can do? Plan for an eye examination.

World Hospice and Palliative Care Day 

World Hospice and Palliative Care Day is a unified day of action to celebrate and support hospice and palliative care around the world. Voices for Hospices is a wave of concerts taking place on World Hospice and Palliative Care Day every two years.

Global Hand washing Day 

Global Hand washing Day is an opportunity to design, test, and replicate creative ways to encourage people to wash their hands with soap at critical times.

Restart a Heart Day 

Restart a Heart Day is an annual initiative which aims to train as many people as possible in CPR in one day, so that more people know these life saving skills.

World Osteoporosis Day 2017

The WOD 2017 campaign calls on people of all ages to ‘Love Your Bones: Protect Your Future’! Through early prevention, diagnosis and treatment of osteoporosis, millions of men and women all over the world can reduce their risk of painful, debilitating and life-threatening fractures.

International Stammering Awareness Day

(ISAD) happens on 22nd October every year. Stammering associations, individuals and groups around the world organise events to mark the day and to raise awareness of stuttering.

National Mentoring Day

National Mentoring Day was launched to recognise the significant benefits of mentoring across the World and takes place on October 27th each year.

The day was created by Chelsey Baker, an award-winning business mentor to help encourage and celebrate mentoring in all its forms.
